A working Bose 1801 Amplifier. The first photo shows the 1801 with the matching 4401 Preamp. See my other listings for the Bose 4401 auction. I just want to show how sweet they look together. This auction is for the 1801 Amplifier only! 4401 is in a separate auction. The amplifier was recently repaired by a tech who knows vintage equipment and it works great. The common catastrophic transistor failure had been fixed on one module and a newer module replaces the other one.See pictures for minor scratches on the top of the amp. The glass front is very nice. Some crud in the meter windows. All lights work. Hookup numbering was scratched into the back near the outputs. This is a beast and weighs 90 lbs packed. Shipping will reflect that and will also include some materials. This will need to be double boxed in some sturdy materials. Local pickup is free. This many times lead to the circuit board they were mounted on to be fried. SERVICE BULLETIN Subject: Resistor Failure Date: 09/19/1977 Remarks: We have found that the resistor R3 on the 1801/1800 amplifier PCB's have shown a higher failure rate than normal. Studies reveal that the resistor normally runs at about 150-170°F. The etch layout at R3 is not sufficient to provide adequate heat sink for this component, and the resistor eventually changes value due to the heat. This changing value causes the resistor, capacitor C2, and the zener diode CR15, to fail..... This modification must be preformed on all PCB's brought in for repair, regardless of the actual failure.
